Topic: PM's are not Psychologists - Why and when to seek specialist advice? " By Josh Hawes (Special Forces and Performance, Enhancement Psychologist).

As a Project Manager, you’ve learned an array of skills across multiple areas. You’ve also learnt that the “soft skills” are often the most important and usually the hardest to learn.

Occasionally in your career, you may be faced with difficult bosses, team members or clients. Despite deploying all of your training and experience there may be some individuals that continue to be resistant and thwart your best efforts.Josh’s presentation will discuss why and when of accessing specialist support to address personnel obstacles, as well introducing you to the concept of “Complex Human Terrain” in order to anticipate personality difficulties and prepare simple strategies well in advance.Josh is a Psychologist with a background in forensics, military and corporate services. He is Major in the Australian Army, held the position of SAS Psychologist and deployed on multiple military operations with Australian Special Forces.

Biography: Josh Hawes, Critical Components Principal Phycologist, Bachelor of Psychology (HONS) 

Psychologist fully registered with APHRA, with 16 years experience both in an organisational and clinical capacity within the public and private sectors. Possesses a strong theoretical framework, along with applied knowledge and skills in multiple core areas of organisational psychology such as; organisational assessment and development, change management, training, including; needs assessment, development and design, delivery and evaluation, leadership coaching, job analysis, and talent management

Combines organisational psychology and clinical psychology to take an analytical and strategic approach with organisational demand while developing productive working relationships with stakeholders at all levels; resulting in the identification of individual employees’ needs, organisational goals and alignment of the two.
