For this event attendance, PMI Members will earn 1 Strategic PDU.
In this session, you will learn about the fundamentals of design thinking and develop some practical skills in this approach. Participants will understand the five-stage process of design thinking (empathize, define, ideate, prototype, test) and explore how to use these tools to generate options and radically improve engagement. Nick will use an experiential learning approach to help participants understand and a design thinking tool kit. You will be expected to fully participate to get the most out of this unique learning experience. We plan to use the WA PMI as a case study. Participants will learn some techniques to facilitate a more engaging workshop, rapidly generate new ideas and apply human-centered design to problem-solving. Get ready to learn a lot, test some new methods and walk away with a new toolkit for your next client!
Nick is known for his ability to see the bigger picture and think out of the box. He currently works at BHP in Transformational Change and was previously a Senior Manager with Accenture. He has a background in Organisational Psychology and he applies his knowledge of human behaviour to transformation; strategy, change management and project delivery. He has worked across Mining, Oil&Gas, Financial Services, and Government organisations. Nick maintains a variety of interests in the Not for Profit sector. He contributes much of his spare time to the improvement of the community through his various board roles. Nick has been described as a highly engaging facilitator, dynamic speaker and engaging coach.
Also, I have an article that was published by Business News WA that might of interest to the guests – The Law Society brings design thinking to the legal profession.
We would also like to invite you to attend PMI Toastmasters, which meets immediately before the Chapter Meeting servicing the local community of project managers in Perth. Good leaders are good communicators. In Toastmasters you will improve your speaking skills and develop leadership abilities in order to become a better leader.
