Biography

Stephen has 30 years’ global experience in the oil and gas exploration and production environment.  Stephen has extensive management and delivery experience across maintenance and modifications, brownfield engineering [20 years working with brownfield assets directly] and integrity management delivery, asset and production availability assurance and improvement, project management and delivery. As well as his delivery management role, Stephen also provides technical governance in a number of areas, one of which being the location delivery risk focal point.

This is complemented by his technical, process and continuous improvement expertise, broad experience base and appreciation of risk, challenges, and opportunities in brownfields, mature and late-life operations.

Stephen values engaging and working with stakeholders at all levels. He frequently liaises with clients, teams, innovative suppliers and subcontractors to deliver solutions that provide Safety, Environmental, Quality, Schedule and Cost benefits to his clients.

Prior to joining Wood, Stephen worked within a manufacturing environment, designing and implementing packages for the Oil & Gas exploration sector bringing many prototype equipment to the field around the world.

Upon joining Wood in 2001, Stephen directly worked with extending the life of aging assets (5 offshore platforms and onshore processing terminal) both indirectly executing the brownfield engineering and IM work scopes and as Technical Authority (responsible for Mechanical/Piping & Pipelines/Structural & Civil works) as the operator developing and setting the strategies for both projects and IM scopes.

In 2006, as Engineering & Projects Delivery Manager based in The Netherlands, Stephen led the development of support systems to extend the life and reduce the OPEX costs of aging assets, predominantly in the North Sea (NNS, CNS, SNS, and Dutch sectors) but also on a global basis. In this role, Stephen was instrumental in the development of the first 40m heave compensated vessel mounted walk to work system in the world and has a patent pending for this equipment.

In 2011, Stephen jointly led the brownfields development and HUC of the ConocoPhillips >US$2B Jasmine project.

Since 2013, Stephen has been based in Australia where he has run many key projects for multiple Operators, including the FEED and Execute transition for the Woodside Persephone subsea tie-back project, and the life-extension project for LNG and LPG berthing facilities at Karratha Gas Plant.
